Amy Hughes

Co-Founder

As a Lighting Designer, Amy is recognized for innovative solutions, strong visual and spatial reasoning, and the ability to connect ideas across disciplines to drive creative outcomes.

With over 30 years of professional experience, Amy has been responsible for developing unique lighting solutions for a large variety of projects. Amy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Theater from Purdue University and pursued her MBA at Pepperdine University. She stays current with lighting trends by being an active member with both local and national professional organizations such as the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), IALD, and the USGBC.

Amy has 3 adult daughters, Zoe, Erin & Claire.  She enjoys a glass of wine or coffee with friends, traveling around the world and is always looking for her next adventure.

Julia Heutel

Co-Founder

As Co-Founder of H2Ltg, Julia puts her business development, marketing, and leadership skills to work while continuing to share her passion for lighting with others. Having worked for both Engineering and Architecture firms throughout her career, Julia takes pride in being able to bridge the communication gap between all disciplines. Julia has 19 years experience including aviation, commercial, corporate, education, exterior/site, government, healthcare, hospitality, justice, retail, restaurant, and science + technology industries. She serves on the Board of Managers for the local chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society, and is an active IALD member.

Julia is a busy wife and mother, spending most nights running from work to a hockey rink or baseball field…often both in the same night! When not on the move, she loves spending time with her family, and enjoys reading or baking in the downtime she can squeeze in.

Shannon Whitten

BIM Coordinator + Lighting Designer

With more than 21 years of experience in the engineering consulting industry, Shannon has dedicated the past 8 years to lighting design. She is passionate about creating lighting solutions that strengthen the relationship between architecture, the built environment, and the people who experience it.

Shannon brings a detail-oriented and collaborative approach to each project from early concept to final development. With experience in Lighting Design and Revit, Shannon has specialized in detailed drawing documentation and cross-disciplinary coordination. Her projects include Hospitality, Colleges and Universities, Government, Healthcare, Exhibit Spaces, Corporate Campuses, Parks and Recreation Centers, K-12, House of Worship and various Commercial Projects where she strives to balance aesthetics, functionality, sustainability, and long-term performance.

Outside of work, Shannon enjoys spending time with her family as a wife, mother, bonus mom, and ‘Nene’ to her bonus grandson. She finds inspiration in travel, architecture, and interior design. She enjoys creating warm, welcoming spaces at home and believes the best relationships are built with intention, care, and a focus on the people it serves.

Erin Hughes

Digital Marketing Manager + Web Design

As the Digital Marketing Manager and Web Designer for H2Ltg, Erin brings creative and innovative new ways to showcase the dedication and quality behind every project we work on. She believes that exceptional design begins with compassion, curiosity, and attention to detail, and she strives to incorporate those values into every design, marketing initiative, and user experience. Erin earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Webster University, along with a Certificate in Ceramics. At H2Ltg, she creates social media content, assists with presentation design and research, and develops the company’s UX/UI experiences by keeping the company website current with new projects and accomplishments. 

Outside of H2Ltg, Erin works with dogs and other animals, specializing in the care of recent rescues and reactive dogs. In her free time, she enjoys painting, creating ceramic pieces, exploring new skills and hobbies, and spending time with friends and family.
